This may not please the hard core head bangers but anyone that can appreciate great musicianship and totally loves this band no matter what they record, will simply love this Spiral (5:21) 7 Asleep (3:58) Rating-10/10 Credits: Sully Erna: Vocals, Guitar Tony Rombola: Guitar Robbie Merrill: Bass The seven-track unplugged EP titled The Other Side was a wake up call for me to their awesome talents Running Blind (3:59) 2 The rhythm and melody is superb on every track while maintaining the alternative rock edge and attitude that people would expect straight on through with a Godsmack album The vocals of Sully Erna reminded me of Metallica so much, and then I heard a Led Zeppelin like riff here and there, which made it easier for me to find a common ground based on my own past listening experiences Godsmack are very successful rockers and their audience is extremely devoted, so this album may come as surprise to the faithful © Keith "MuzikMan" Hannaleck-http://www Voices (3:44) 5 Taking hard rocking tracks and making them into melodic rhythmic voyages is not always the easiest thing in the world to do with conviction, this band pulls it off in spades Touché (3:37) 4 Re-Align (4:23) 3 This band obviously is top-notch right out of the gate and they are all fine musicians with the knack of making their music very catchy and hard to resist These guys rock even when they do their songs acoustically Keep Away (4:48) 6 By Keith Hannaleck, 8/24/2004 Artist: Godsmack Title: The Other Side Format: SACD EP Genre: Alternative Metal Godsmack are very successful rockers and their audience is extremely devoted, so this album may come as surprise to the faithful com August 20, 2004 1 muzikreviews To make it a musical experience that will be ringing in my ears for the next few weeks-I got the SACD version, which is fantastic! My first thought was how clear and concise this recording is, which is not always a given, but for the most part it is in this format Believe me, my ears perked up more than once while listening to this music…the more I listened, the more I enjoyed it Godsmack's Other Side Alternative Metal Gone Soft? Not Really As NewsMax, the right-wing Web site, crowed, "CBS' decision to cancel the Reagan movie is one of the greatest victories â€â€? ever â€â€? for the conservative movement over the left-wing, so-called mainstream, media The network blasted one of the film's executive producers after he was quoted in TV Guide comparing the fear among Germans during Hitler's rise to fear in America as it headed into war with Iraq Viewers alarmed that the film might defame a man they lionize were spared from having their vision of him challenged They have been spared from watching a film they probably didn't want to see anyway (what if it went too easy on him?), while they also get to bask in righteous indignation over CBS denying them a look at it cbs (It also washed its hands of a sticky problem by dumping "The Reagans" on its pay-cable sister channel, Showtime, where the film will air months from now) "It was a moral decision, not an economic or a political one," the CBS boss told Variety last week Except it isn't going to air â€â€? not then, not on CBS As for viewers who aren't so fond of Reagan, they win, too Michael Paranzino, who launched the "Boycott CBS" Web site, hadn't "We believe this is a solution that benefits everyone involved," said CBS when it pulled "The Reagans I think CBS' turn-tail tactic is a win for all concerned Despite being part of the "left-wing, so-called mainstream, media" (or so some insist), it ignited the firestorm against fellow "media elite" CBS in a big story last month that quoted details from the script deemed unflattering to Reagan Meanwhile, the network has reminded its viewers that, at crunch time, they don't count Special interests do And now CBS' viewers never will Then the producer was fired from the film Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie, who wrote a blistering letter to Moonves, hadn't com â€â€?â€â€?â€â€? But what show gets pulled next? How long will CBS surrender to this kind of winning streak? â€â€?â€â€?â€â€? However unlikely, CBS professes to have struck a blow for truth Even better, they were handed new evidence to buttress their belief that "the left-wing, so-called mainstream, media" are out to trash everything they hold dear The New York Times won But despite that uproar, "Hitler" aired as scheduled Of course, cynics may counter that CBS simply caved in to the Far Right I prefer writing about shows that will actually be broadcast and shows that I've screened And what of CBS? Yes, it has won, too, exhibiting a newfound, heretofore undemonstrated commitment to program quality org But since everyone else has expressed an opinion about this biopic, sight unseen, why shouldn't I? Come to think of it, I'd like to salute CBS for giving "The Reagans" the hook (episodes of "CSI," "CSI: Miami" and "Without a Trace" are now scheduled instead) CBS' cancellation of "The Reagans" comes on the heels of the timidity it displayed over its "Hitler" miniseries last spring After all, none of the thousands who protested "The Reagans," and prevailed with CBS, had viewed the film None of that had anything to do with his decision, Leslie Moonves insists |
