No one under 17 admitted And the parallel is way too easy between Fisher's redemption and Davenport's improved marriage to Berta (Salli Richardson), which had been strained His mother didn't want him after her release, so Fisher ended up in a foster home, where his guardian (a chilling Novella Nelson) abused him physically and emotionally, all the while presenting herself as a devout Christian He works cleanly and simply, holding back during scenes that could have pushed every button and tugged at every heartstring Some material may not be suitable for children In a cute scene after his first date with his new girlfriend, Cheryl (another charming newcomer, Joy Bryant), Fisher can't wait to tell Davenport how well it went, and knocks on the doctor's door late at night, positively radiant PG-13 â€â€? Special parental guidance strongly suggested for children under 13 R â€â€?
