Here's hoping we see more of this enchanting performer in New York Keogh's 'Farmer' Reaps Greatness in N On its own, "The Love-Hungry Farmer" is ingratiating enough, but it benefits greatly from Keogh's performance as McLane The play, which Keogh adapted from the work of Irish playwright and novelist John B It's not nearly as broad as it sounds, since even here Keogh remains straight-faced, maintaining the fragile balance between McLane's dignity and his befuddlement And Keogh's tragicomic face â€â€? a mishmash of floppy ears, quizzical eyes and down-turned mouth â€â€? perfectly suits the character, who's both ridiculous and quietly dignified Jan 26, 1:56 PM EST John Bosco McLane is a self-described "chastitute" â€â€? a lonely bachelor well into his 50s who has barely kissed a woman, let alone slept with one Keane, runs through Feb Some of the funniest stories involve McLane's visits to his parish priest for confession Physically, the actor is a wonder It might have worked with a bit more foreshadowing, but the play as is â€â€? one humorous situation after another â€â€? doesn't support it After all that humor, the play's desperately sad finale comes as a bit of a shock Even more important, Keogh is a master storyteller The reasons for his virginity? To hear McLane tell it, bad luck and a terror of sex rooted in his Catholic upbringing When he's describing some sexual humiliation from McLane's past â€â€? such stories make up most of the play â€â€? Keogh makes the other characters' presence felt through body language and intonation alone But in "The Love-Hungry Farmer," Des Keogh's one-man play with McLane as its main character, it's clear the bachelor's plight stems, too, from his crankiness and dismal self-image " And it certainly doesn't diminish the greatness of Keogh's performance 16 at the Irish Repertory Theatre off-Broadway The spectacle will leave you breathless with laughter Still, that's far from enough to sink "The Love-Hungry Farmer Another scene, involving an interrupted sexual encounter, ends with McLane scampering around the set in his knickers Y The punchline is that McLane never really has anything to confess, a fact that the priest (also played by Keogh) points out often, to hilarious effect Keogh is not a particularly large man, but he fills the Rep's tiny stage, pacing like a caged lion through McLane's cramped farmhouse and gesturing sloppily with his gangly arms " He called the amnesty offer "our version of an olive branch The RIAA also said it already has negotiated $3,000 settlements with fewer than 10 Internet users who learned they might be sued after the RIAA sent copyright subpoenas to their Internet providers Record Industry Sues Music File Swappers Sep 8, 7:03 PM EST The music industry's largest trade group filed 261 copyright lawsuits across the country Monday against Internet users who trade songs online, an aggressive campaign to discourage piracy through fears of expensive civil penalties or settlements "This is ridiculous," said Schamis, 26 â€â€?â€â€?â€â€?
