a so-called "pas de deux a quatre" (a "duet" for four dancers) that had Julio Bocca comically rushing around the stage, befuddled, trying to partner three ballerinas at once: Nina Ananiashvili, Ashley Tuttle and Xiomara Reyes That was followed by another pas de deux, from "Esmerelda" â€â€? this one quicker and livelier, featuring impressive turns by Paloma Herrera, partnered with Marcelo Gomes The evening was one of the social events of the season, and glittery pastel-colored spring evening gowns filled the Metropolitan Opera House Monday night â€â€? even if the weather was wet and dreary Perhaps the most striking staging was saved for last: "My Sweet Lord" had the full cast leaping across the stage, left to right, again and again in a continuous line, finally ending with one dancer left onstage to point to a portrait of Harrison that suddenly appears from above |
