Voice Auditions

Voice Auditions

If you think you have a good voice, you could have a new career in the entertainment industry. There are several jobs available if you have good voice like voice over work or working as a backup singer in television commercials.

The first step to finding a job for your talented voice is to go on a voice audition. Before arriving for your voice audition, make sure you limber up your voice by gargling with warm water and then reciting your favorite monologue or singing your favorite song.

Voice auditions usually involve a director or producer who is looking for a specific voice for a particular job. If it is a television commercial for shaving cream you will be asked to speak in a masculine voice during the voice audition.

Before landing a voice audition, you should research talent agencies that can represent you and inform you about auditions for voice over work and television commercial jobs.

When you arrive for your voice audition, make sure to bring a CD of your voice talent with you. Show up to your voice audition on time and make sure you are prepared to wow the producer or director with your voice.

It is always a good idea to practice using your voice daily to make sure you keep sharp. Record yourself and have friends, family and professionals listen to your CD so you can get their feedback.

Going to a voice audition is not the only way to break into the entertainment industry. Casting directors, producers and directors list thousands of auditions every day for actors, models, singers and musicians.

If you rely on your voice for your livelihood, make sure you take care of it. Don’t smoke. Don’t yell and don’t talk for extended periods if you don’t have to.

Professional voice talents make their money by being unique. If you sound like everyone else, you probably will not get a voice audition.

Survior Auditions

Survivor was the first reality show to hit the airwaves and it is now celebrating its 10th season.

Unlike most reality shows, you have to have certain skills in order to be cast from Survivor auditions. You have to be in excellent physical shape and be willing to spend up to six weeks on a deserted island with a bunch of other contestants. If you are not in shape, don’t apply. You will not get a Survivor audition.

The first step in getting a Survivor audition is to have a videographer take a video of you doing something crazy. Making a boring video with no action will not help you get a Survivor audition. The video doesn’t have to be professionally produced. In fact, producers and directors who cast people for Survivor auditions are looking for unique individuals with strong personalities.

To begin the process of Survivor auditions, you must go to the CBS television website and download an application, fill it out and return it to the producers of the show.

A total of approximately 800 applicants may be invited to interview as may be scheduled by the Producers in person at one of the following locations: Los Angeles, Ca; New York, NY; Seattle, WA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX: Detroit, MI; Boston, MA; Atlanta, GA; Miami, FL; and Denver, CO. Producers reserve the right to change the number or the identity of the foregoing locations at any time. All travel expenses for the interview will be the applicants’ sole expense.

Semi-finalists (the number of which will be determined by Producers) will be invited to Los Angeles as scheduled by Producers for final interviews with the SURVIVOR producers. Roundtrip economy air travel between Los Angeles and your local airport in the United States and lodging will be provided by Producers.

Approximately 16 finalists for each cycle (the final number of which will be determined by Producers) will be selected as contestants to participate in this SURVIVOR program. Filming is presently scheduled to occur for cycles 23 and 24 in summer to fall of 2011 (or as otherwise scheduled by Producers) at a remote location to be announced.

Like any other acting auditions, Survivor auditions are very competitive. Don’t be surprised if you don’t get a call for a Survivor audition. Only 16 people are chosen every season to compete on Survivor. The odds aren’t in your favor, but if you are in great shape and have a dynamic personality, you have a shot to be the next Survivor and battle for the grand prize of $1 million.

Once you make it through a Survivor audition and are cast on the show, you need to think about your strategy and how you will form alliances with other contestants. The fittest player is not always the winner of Survivor. Most times, the smartest player wins.

Survivor auditions are just one way to break into the entertainment industry. Casting directors, producers and directors list thousands of auditions every day for television shows, movies and commercials.

Reality Show Auditions

Are you looking for reality show auditions?

The first reality show to become popular was “Survivor” which debuted about 10 years ago. Since that time, there have been nearly 100 reality shows that have ranged from cooking shows like “Hell’s Kitchen” to modeling shows like “America’s Next Top Model” to romance shows like “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette.”

On the surface, reality shows auditions look like they cast ordinary everyday people, but the truth is that most reality show producers are looking for people who have a certain look, a certain spark and a personality that will project well on television.

If you are interested in auditioning for a reality show, the first place that you should check is a talent resource website. Thousands of auditions for reality shows, acting and modeling jobs are listed everyday on these sites.

Most reality shows ask you to send a video of yourself before you come in for an audition. The requirements for these videos can be found on the show’s website.

If you are one of the lucky ones who gets a call after sending in your video, your next step will be to audition in front of the producer or director.

Some reality shows like “Big Brother” require you to be filmed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you are uncomfortable with that, you probably shouldn’t audition for those types of shows.

Some reality shows like “Survivor” require you to be in excellent physical shape. If you are not in shape, there is no need to audition for these types of shows. Likewise, if you are interested in auditioning for a cooking reality show, you must know how to cook. They will not teach you how to cook on these types of reality shows.

Reality shows have turned ordinary people into stars. Just look at Snooky and The Situation from Jersey Shore. They started out as no names and now everyone knows their names.

As is true in most things in life, in order to be cast on a reality show you have to be hard working and persistent. It is not uncommon to go on hundreds of auditions before landing a role on a reality show.

The best place to find auditions for reality shows that are posted by directors and producers is to go to a talent resource website.

Game Show Auditions

How To Become Famous through Game Show Auditions

If you have ever watched game shows on television, you know they are exciting and can offer you an opportunity to make money. Game show auditions can also offer the opportunity for up-and-coming actors to gain exposure in the entertainment field.

Most game shows have open casting calls for contestants. The most important thing to remember when going to an audition for a game show is to show enthusiasm. Producers are looking for highly energetic and photogenic people who brighten up the television screen.

Some game shows like: Let´s Make a Deal and The Price is Right get their contestants directly from the audience. When you watch these shows on television it looks like the host picks the contestants randomly. This, however, is not usually the case. What happens is that audience members go through a brief screening process when they are in line waiting to get into the studio. It is at that time the producers pick their audience contestants.

If you want to go on game show audition it is important to make sure you do your research. Some shows are based on the ability to answer questions. Other shows are looking strictly for personalities. It is important when auditioning for game shows to be bubbly, effervescent and unique. Make sure you tell producers something different that you do that sets you apart from the crowd.

Game show producers aren´t always looking for the most beautiful people in the world. In most cases, there are looking for the most unique people in the world when they hold game show auditions.

Another key to being a successful game show contestant is to always be on. You may think that you are just waiting in line and not think anyone is watching you, but that is not the case. Producers are constantly monitoring everything you do even if you are not speaking to them directly.

If you are a minority or a woman, you may have a better chance of getting chosen as a game show contestant during a game show audition. Producers are always looking to have a mix of different races, ages and sexes so that their shows will have a greater appeal to the general public.

Another tip for a successful game show audition is to always be smiling. Have you ever watched a game show where the contestant was not smiling or was extremely boring? Probably not!

If you really want to become a game show contestant, watch the show you are auditioning for several times before you go to your casting call. Notice in particular what the contestants are wearing. If it is a show like "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," or shows like "Auditions for Reality Shows" you will notice that most of the contestants are dressed professionally. If it is a show like "Let’s Make a Deal," almost all contestants are dressed in costume.

If you do your research, smile a lot, are extremely enthusiastic and be yourself, you have a good chance of succeeding at your game show audition.

Commerical Auditions

We all skip past them, but how do you find Commercial Auditions.

If you are a talented model or actor looking for commercial auditions, the first place to start is to sign up with a reputable talent agency that can help you find auditions for television commercials, movies and television shows.

Before you go on a commercial audition, make sure to develop a portfolio of your work which includes a headshot, several body shots and a DVD of your acting and modeling work.

Television commercials are usually 30 to 60 seconds so it is important when you go to a commercial audition that you are able to get your point across in less than a minute. Have a professional videographer tape you doing several different 30 or 60 second commercials.

Theatre Auditions

Theatre auditions differ from movie auditions, but how and why?

One of the best ways to break into the acting field or entertainment industry is to start early and attend theatre auditions where you can find acting roles in high school plays or community theatre.

Theatre auditions are free and open to the public. To find out about theatre auditions in your area, make sure to search the web for listings or contact your local community theatre group.

Theatre auditions differ from movie auditions because most plays involve acting, singing and dancing. When you go on theatre auditions you will be asked to read a memorized monologue, sing a short song and perform a 2-3 minute dance.

Often times during theatre auditions you will be performing with a group instead of solo. If this is the case, you want to impress the producers and directors without overacting or being too dramatic.

Here are a couple of tips for successful theatre auditions: 1) Be on time. 2) Bring a complete portfolio of you work. 3) Be confident but not cocky. 4) Be prepared to sing, dance and act. 5) Don’t be discouraged by constructive criticism.

Successful theatre auditions lead to landing roles in plays. After you have established yourself as a good theatre actor, you may want to broaden your horizons and audition for movies or television shows.

Theatre acting is live so there will be mistakes. It is not like a television show or movie where you can shoot the scene several times until it is done right. Don’t worry if you miss a line during a play. If you can improvise, the audience will probably not even notice your mistake.

Theatre auditions don’t require the actor to have a talent agent or agency represent them but it is a good idea if you are auditioning for movies or television shows.
