Singer/Actress/Songwriter Cindee Nilson has been a professional entertainer for three decades. Ms. Nilson has a strong theatrical background and has performed in many musicals such as Godspell, The Music Man, Cabaret and Broadway Tomorrow to name a few. Cindee is a passionate person who has written a catalog of songs about her life and the people around her. Metropolitan Nashville Inc. released her Debut Album, entitled “Cindee,” on Platinum Plus records. Two of the cuts on this debut CD received awards in the top ten by the Mid Atlantic Songwriting contest sponsored by The Songwriters Association of Washington and BMI. The Country Music scene was one that Cindee Nilson could relate to. She writes songs about real life. People can relate to the stories in much of her music because they have lived it. Cindee is currently working on a Contemporary Christian Album and a Jazz Album. The daughter of a musician, she grew up on Long Island, New York and began performing with her father’s band at a very early age. A Graduate of Smithtown High School East, Cindee began as a student of music where she received training in voice and Music Theory from Nancy Pinto. Nancy Pinto was Cindee's mentor and taught her about music and life and to follow her dreams. With a strong theatrical background Ms. Nilson was accepted to the Boston Conservatory of Music where she studied Drama Musical Theater and Voice with Mary Saunders. Ms. Nilson also studied Jazz Improvisation with Maggie Scott at the Berklee School of Music. Ms. Nilson transferred to Western Connecticut State University where she majored in Vocal Performance. She received her classical training from Don Craig and her Jazz and Gospel training from James Furman. While a student at West Conn Ms. Nilson was the lead vocalist of the Jazz ensemble. In the world of Jazz Ms. Nilson has performed with The Billy Taylor Trio, Dave Brubeck and the West Point Jazz Ensemble. Ms. Nilson entered the radio business in 2000 where she worked for 12 years and has a strong grasp of the Radio business and the needs of their advertisers. Nilson Music Company was formed by Cindee Nilson in 2011 and offers services in commercial jingle writing, voiceovers, singing telegrams, voice lessons and live entertainment.
